Week 3 record: 14/28 (50%)
Total record: 14/28 (50%)
NFL Picks of the Week
New Orleans Saints (-3) at Miami Dolphins (London) (O/U: 50.5)
The Saints shocked me last week blowing out the Carolina Panthers, and now they’re 3 point favorites over a Dolphins team that lost to the lowly Jets last week. Although I don’t trust Cutler to bounce back, I think the defense has a good game against Brees and the Dolphins win the game.
Result: Dolphins win outright, take the over
Update: Saints cover, under (0/2)
Buffalo Bills at Atlanta Falcons (-8) (O/U: 48.5)
The Bills last week beat the Broncos and their vaunted defense while the Falcons got away with a close and controversial win. The Falcons seem to be unstoppable at home with all of their speed, and I think the Bills fall back to Earth a little bit.
Result: Falcons cover, take the over
Update: Bills won outright, under (0/4)
Cincinnati Bengals (-3) at Cleveland Browns (O/U: 41.5)
Yikes what a matchup. Bengals last week blew a 14 point lead to the Packers while the Browns lost in a shootout against the Colts. Myles Garrett might be back for the Browns this week, but QB DeShone Kizer has been a turnover machine. One of these teams has to get their first win of the season, I’ll go with the Bengals who have to get the ship righted eventually, and star LB Vontaze Burfict returns from suspension.
Result: Bengals cover, take the under
Update: Bengals covered, under (2/6)
Los Angeles Rams at Dallas Cowboys (-6.5) (O/U: 48.5)
The Rams offense looks to be clicking right now after scoring 41 points last Thursday and face a vulnerable Cowboys defense this week, who might be without linebacker Sean Lee. Aaron Donald is also back for the Rams which could mean trouble for Ezekiel Elliott. I think the Cowboys are favored by too much, and this will be a closer game than most think.
Result: Rams cover, take the under
Update: Rams won outright, over (3/8)
Detroit Lions at Minnesota Vikings (-2) (O/U: 42.5)
The Lions might be the biggest surprise of the season. They would be 3-0 if it wasn’t for an unknown rule taking away their win at the last second. For the Vikings; Case Keenum and Stefon Diggs looked amazing last week against the Bucs defense, and Dalvin Cook is the favorite for offensive rookie of the year. I can’t trust Case Keenum to put up two good weeks in a row, but then again, I don’t trust the Lions hot start either. This will be a close game.
Result: Vikings cover, take the over
Update: Lions won outright, under (3/10)
Carolina Panthers at New England Patriots (-9.5) (O/U: 49.5)
I was all in on the Panthers last week and they took a giant crap against the Saints. Cam Newton isn’t right, and Kelvin Benjamin is hurt now too. 9.5 is usually a high line, but the Pats offense is explosive and I think Brady throws all over this defense on Sunday.
Result: Patriots cover, take the over
Update: Panthers won outright, over (4/12)
Jacksonville Jaguars (-3.5) at New York Jets (O/U: 38)
One game I will not be turning my TV to. Doesn’t matter if the Jaguars put up 44 points last week, they’re not in London anymore. Bortles had a good game, but it wouldn’t surprise me if he falls on his face vs the Jets this week. That being said, I’ll still take the Jags because the Jets are the worst team in football.
Result: Jaguars cover, take the under
Update: Jets win outright, over (4/14)
Pittsburgh Steelers (-3) at Baltimore Ravens (O/U: 42.5)
A division rival game this week, this should be a close game. Even with the Ravens getting blown out by the Jags last week I’d expect them to pick it back up to show some pride. The Steelers are notorious underachievers on the road, but I still think they end up finding a way to win.
Result: Steelers cover, take the over
Update: Steelers covered, under (5/16)
Tennessee Titans (-2.5) at Houston Texans (O/U: 44)
Both teams scored 33 points last week, one against the Seahawks D and one against the Patriots D. The Titans gave up 27 against an offense that only put up 13 against the Niners. DeShaun Watson went toe to toe with Tom Brady last week, and I think the Texans win this game. Texans defense shows out as well.
Result: Texans win outright, take the over
Update: Texans won outright, over (7/18)
San Francisco 49ers at Arizona Cardinals (-7) (O/U: 44.5)
I’m still confused as to how the 49ers were able to score 39 points against the Rams defense last week. I think they’ll come back down to Earth even though the Cards defense is worse. Cardinals though, struggle to put up points without the balance David Johnson provides. I think it’ll be a close low scoring game but the Cardinals still come out on top.
Result: 49ers cover, take the under
Update: 49ers covered, under (9/20)
Philadelphia Eagles at Los Angeles Chargers (-1.5) (O/U: 47.5)
The Chargers probably should be 2-1 if it wasn’t for two missed field goals at the end of games. The Eagles played really well against the Giants last week, and their defense is impressive. I think the Eagles D makes it tough all day for Rivers and they end up winning.
Result: Eagles win outright, take the over
Update: Eagles won outright, over (11/22)
New York Giants at Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-3) (O/U: 44.5)
That’s a tough way to lose for the Giants last week. A 61 yard field goal by a kicker the Eagles had just picked up off the practice squad during the week. The Bucs however got annihilated by a Case Keenum run offense. The Bucs need this week to go by fast so Doug Martin comes back, and I gotta think the Giants start playing well eventually.
Result: Giants win outright, take the over
Update: Giants covered, over (12/24)
Oakland Raiders at Denver Broncos (-3) (O/U: 46)
The Raiders offense was basically non-existent against the Redskins, and I’m still trying to figure out how the Broncos didn’t shut down the Bills offense. I think the Raiders bounce back, even against this defense, and I still can’t trust the Broncos offense.
Result: Raiders win outright, take the over
Update: Broncos covered, under (12/26)
Indianapolis Colts at Seattle Seahawks (-13) (SNF) (O/U: 41.5)
Jacoby Brissett had a great game last week, but it was against the Browns. And Russell Wilson put up great numbers against a decent Titans defense. The Colts defense has holes all over it, and I don’t think they’ll get a ton of pressure on Wilson despite the offensive line. Plus Seattle has the 12th man advantage and win big in primetime.
Result: Seahawks cover, take the over
Update: Seahawks covered, over (14/28)
Washington Redskins at Kansas City Chiefs (-7) (MNF) (O/U: 49.5)
Kirk Cousins finally had a great game against the Raiders, but the Chiefs defense is miles ahead. The Chiefs could be the most complete team in the league, and I expect Kareem Hunt to keep the great start to his career going on Monday night. And let’s be honest, do you think Kirk Cousins will win two primetime games in a row?
Result: Chiefs cover, take the over
Update: Chiefs covered, under (15/30)
Enjoy week 4 everyone!
